Fanny Ma

Ma began her musical training on piano with Mr. Tse Pan Hang and clarinet with Mr. Carl Choi at her early ages. She graduated from the University of Hong Kong in 2004 majoring in music. Her teachers included the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra Assistant Principal Clarinet Mr. John Schertle, Dr. Manolete Mora in directed study and composition with Dr. Chan Hing Yan and Dr. Joshua Chan. She was awarded the Rayson Huang Scholarships in Music, The Hong Kong Austrian Education Foundation Scholarship and Bernard Van Zuiden Prize.

In cessation to her study at University of Hong Kong, in 2006, Ma received a graduate assistantship to continue her master study in conducting with Dr. Paula Holcomb at State University of New York at Fredonia. During her master studies, she had also studied conducting with Maestro Timothy Reynish and participated in the Conductor’s Guild Workshop and study under Maestro Harold Faberman, Maestro Raymond Harvey and Dr. David Rudge.
